CryoHub is now part of ‘Bridge’, a cooperation group established in November 2015 for all Smart-Grid and Storage projects funded under Horizon 2020 (http://horizon2020-story.eu/bridge/). At its meeting in January 2017, Dr Radcliffe was asked to be a rapporteur for the group as it responds to the Commission's “Clean Energy for All Europeans” proposal, which was released in November 2016 (http://ec.europa.eu/energy/en/news/commission-proposes-new-rules-consumer-centred-clean-energy-transition). A number of the proposed measures relate directly to how energy storage could be treated in energy markets, and the role for innovation as part of the transition to a low carbon economy. Lessons from H2020 projects will inform the thinking as the package is considered by the Parliament and Member States.
